CLINICS 2023
MOUNTED ARCHERY CLINIC

SEPTEMBER 23rd & 24TH, 2023.
LOCATION: Kaspian Equestrian Centre- Olds, AB
Camping overnight (Both Friday and Saturday) is allowed (free) and there are stalls and pens available. OR can arrive the AM of both days. MUST BE READY TO GO BY 9AM.
Minimum Age: 13 years old
Cost: $30.00 (for adults)
The days will consist of a mixture of general horsemanship and ground skill work with the required equipment. Progress through each day to shooting bow off the back of your horse.
DAY 1
9 am: meet and greet, introduction to the sport and equipment,
set everyone up with equipment
Review procedures, safety protocols and schedule.
Introduction to the archery techniques and begin practicing.
Confidence in the correct shooting technique must be established prior to shooting off horseback.
12: Lunch and discussions:
1 pm: Introduction of the horses to the sport and covering the progressive steps in building a confident quiet horse for the sport.
This is done in split groups so that half of the participants work as helpers for the other half for 1.5 hrs then the groups switch.
4 pm: The last hour is review of archery techniques and/or shooting off the horses in the lane for those that are able to comfortably and safely and discussions on equipment and club structure.
5 pm: finish
Day 2:
9 am: Review and practice of archery techniques and introduction to some of the skills games and ground competition courses.
10:30 am: Group 1 with horses for 1 hour then group 2 with horses for 1 hour.
12:30 pm: Lunch and discussions
1 pm: Progress with shooting off horseback on courses at the level of comfort suiting to horse and rider.
Coaching regarding specific challenges for horses and archers.
4 pm: continue practicing on horses and discussions regarding equipment availability etc.
5 pm: finish
