​General Rules and Regulations

Riders MUST Have a current club membership and ALL riders MUST have a current AEF membership as well (regardless of having different personal insurance- this is the requirement of our club's liability insurance provider- NO exceptions)

  • There are 5 Double Header (DH)  Gymkhana's ( 10 gymkhana's total) scheduled for the 2022 Season.

                                                                                     TO QUALIFY FOR YEAR END AWARDS:
  • Riders must attend a minimum of 3 out of the 5 DH ( minimum 6 gymkhanas) in order to qualify for year end awards.  

  • All contestants competing in any club event must abide by the rules and regulations set down by the Fun Country Riding Club of Strathmore. 
  • Failure to know and understand any rule or regulation will be no excuse. 
 
  • The Co-ordinators, Executive and Directors present are responsible for seeing that all rules are carried out, their decision will be final.
 
  • Contestants will be dismissed for the following:
  •    A. Abusing horses or person(s) in any manner.
  •    B. Personal misconduct
 
  • Contestants will be disqualified for the remainder of the event at which the infraction occurs and may be subject to loss of membership. 
 
  • Competitors must wear riding boots at all shows.
 
  • No elastic or any methods of tying feet into the stirrups will be allowed.
 
  • Appropriate riding attire should be worn.
 
  • All humane tack or equipment is permitted. 
 
  • In all divisions, crops, reins, over and unders ropes and spurs may be used with discretion
 
  • Some type of saddle must be used for competition. 
 
  • All horses should be up to date on vaccinations. 
 
  • Horses to be timed on the NOSE both start and finnish.
 
  • No stallions, no foals running at large and no dogs unless leashed and under control. 
 
  • No one under 15 years old to compete without adult supervision. 
 
  • No bicycles. 
 
  • Use of alcohol is probhibited. 
 
  • A horse that kicks or is suspected of kicking must wear a red ribbon in it's tail. 
 
  • The directors present will make the decision regarding postponing or cancelling a gymkhana at any point.
 
  • Each contestant must be ready to enter the arena promptly when it is his/her turn to compete or miss the class. 
 
  • The club will endeavor to start on time and those who are late will forfeit the class. 
 
  • Riders and spectators should not interfere with timers. 
 
  • Horses should be kept away from timers and spectators on bleachers. 
 
  • Horses to enter and leave the arena at a walk. 
 
  • Horses may be led into the arena but NOT to starting line (except  Pee Wee divison)
 
  • Anyone who brings two horses must designate the point horse before entering. Both point and non-point horses can receive ribbons and the entry fee is paid for each horse. The top six horses receive a ribbon for their placing. This can result in two ribbons for the sam placing being awarded but only one of those placing will be receiving points. 
 
  • Please remember that the gymkhana and show rules are subject to change. If you are riding in and Open show/gymkhana or at another club, be sure to check the rules as they may be different. 
 
  • Fun Country Riding Club will not make major rule changes in the middle of the season unless it is a safety factor or more that 50% of the club members (16 years of age and older ) have voted that the rule needs to be changed. Any other changes and ideas are welcome but will not be implemented until the next season. ​
